Last Friday we joined the first ProLudens Jam and had a great time building something completely outside our usual day-to-day work. The theme: the behavioural biology of the dunnock.

In the end, we created GENial, an analogue serious game that makes mating strategies, territory conflicts and breeding behaviour tangible through play. Surprisingly tactical, surprisingly social, and definitely one of those projects you would never start without a jam pushing you into new territory.

The jam itself was very well organised, with strong scientific input and a lot of people from different disciplines working together on exciting ideas.

A big thank you to the ProLudens team, Games & XR Mitteldeutschland and everyone else who made this day possible. It was genuinely good for us as a team, and we’re taking a lot from it.
